Escala PL860 R/T

Ideal solution as an application, mid sized database or Linux consolidation server

Escala
  • High-performance POWER6™ processors for application and database serving or Linux consolidation
  • Virtualization software to improve server utilization and energy efficiency.

Leading edge virtualization capabilities
The innovation of POWER6 processors and virtualization technologies with the server Escala PL860 bring significant benefits for application and mid-size database serving. As a consolidation server, it is designed to provide superior availability and efficiency while reducing infrastructure costs. The flexibility to use both AIX and Linux operating systems broadens the application offerings available and increases the ways clients can manage growth, complexity and risk.

Specialized energy management and browser-based virtualization software make it easier than ever to increase server utilization and energy efficiency while reducing infrastructure costs by using the optional PowerVM™ Editions (formerly APV) and EnergyScale technology capabilities of the system.

Exceptional reliability, availability and serviceability (RAS) features which are designed to deliver near-continuous application availability and allow more work to be processed with less operational disruption.

Configurability and efficiency
Built for attachability, Escala PL860 server offers tremendous configuration flexibility to meet most capacity and growth requirements. Clients will have extensive growth potential in a choice of 19-inch rack-mount or deskside packages supporting up to four POWER6 processor cards each with two 64 bit 3.5GHz or 4.2GHz processor cores. Each card has 8MB of L2 cache and from 1GB to 64GB of DDR2 memory so a maximum configuration may have eight processor cores, 128MB of L3 cache and 256GB of memory. Escala PL860 server has five PCI slots (three PCIe 8x and two 64-bit DDR 2.0 PCI-X) and contains six3.5” SAS disk bays, which can accommodate up to 1.8 TB of disk storage. All disk bays are direct dock and hot-swappable. The server offers two Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps ports or optionally four Ethernet 10/100/1000 Mbps or two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports.
