CNAMTS optimises its entire IT infrastructure with Bull

Bull wins prestigious reference tender for its large-scale Escala servers, and implements a powerful, virtualized infrastructure

CNAMTS (Caisse Nationale de l’Assurance Maladie des Travailleurs Salariés), covers the risks associated with sickness, maternity, disability and death for almost 56 million people, and responds effectively to over a billion requests for reimbursement every year. As the national social health insurance fund for salaried employees, CNAMTS defines risk management policies and administers the network of bodies responsible for implementing them. A key player in the French healthcare system, CNAMTS implements each individual citizen’s coordinated healthcare program by putting the patient at the heart of the system, and ensures that the cost of care received balances with the state allocated healthcare resources.

A standardized, powerful and agile infrastructure
Having carried out a number of projects aimed at simplifying and standardizing its information systems infrastructure, CNAMTS set out objectives to improve its agility in order to support the transformation of its business in real time. With this in mind, it has undertaken the gradual evolution of its IT infrastructure, consolidating existing systems on large-scale Unix servers equipped with a system for sharing resources dynamically and virtualizing peripherals.

Bull, selected by the CNAMTS to support it in this strategic project, will equip all the operational Data Centers, as well as those allocated for business recovery, with Escala® servers guaranteed to provide total service continuity. Drawing on Bull’s infrastructure integration expertise, CNAMTS carrying out a project to set up server consolidation and physical partitioning in a virtualized system that takes full advantage of the power of AIX®.

This new, virtualized architecture, designed as the result of a close collaboration between CNAMTS and Bull, meets the customer’s very demanding requirements with regard to high-level availability (24x7), performance, scalability, durability and security.
