University relations and placements
By playing an active part in technology education, we not only contribute to furthering knowledge and innovation, but help students understand about Bull and what we do.

We have well-established links with some of the major universities and training establishments, and recruit a number of graduate trainees via this route every year.

Our involvement takes many forms, including:

  • Representation on faculty boards and advisory groups
  • Tutoring and lecturing
  • Getting involved in student selection panels
  • Helping to review and assess student theses.

We also work closely with careers services to run seminars, workshops and open days, helping students get an idea of what it might be like to work in the IT industry, and at Bull in particular. You’ll find Bull at many of the top recruitment fairs, and information about our vacancies and training courses is available from the careers services at many leading universities.

Student placement

A student placement at Bull will clearly help you gain broader technical and academic skills. But it’s also a chance to discover the wealth of career opportunities on offer throughout the Group. It’s a hands-on experience, where you may well play a direct role on strategic projects for important customers. There’s no better way to learn about our culture and our company.
Bull recruits nearly 300 students on placements every year, in every one of our business activities and different countries around the world.
What’s in it for both of us? You supply the energy, enthusiasm and willingness to work and learn… and in return we provide you with our expert and recognized technological experience.
A placement with Bull is a great kick-start to professional life and equips you with a real ‘passport to employment’ in the IT industry and beyond.
We offer a range of placement opportunities, mainly in technical areas but also in other essential parts of the business including finance, marketing and human resources.

  • On average we offer more than 200 placements every year. We give priority to final year students from mainstream universities, and our aim is to ensure that you follow at least one project through to the end, so you get a real idea of what’s involved at every stage. Although a job offer from Bull is not guaranteed at the end of the placement, we do look on this period of full work experience as a kind of ‘pre-recruitment’ program.
    Helping to adapt a Microsoft scalability tool to our range of servers, develop an electronic safe, create a newsletter, put together a sales campaign… These are just a few examples of recent activities that placement students have been involved in.
  • Joining us straight from school or college: Every year we also recruit several dozen trainees from graduating from sandwich courses or apprenticeship contracts.
