| | • The efficient distant data duplication | | |
| | The StoreWay FDA and Optima Remote Data Replication allows development of solutions focusing on data set size, distance, commit points, performance … to match every situation. These data replications solutions are targeting primarily either computation geographic distribution or disaster tolerance solutions. The whole Optima line is supporting this feature from entry to very high end. |

Many replication techniques |
Replications are done between FDA and Optima storage sub-systems. The FDA and Optima Remote Data Replication can operate in synchronous mode: data are acknowledged by the local and distant site after each data frame. This is a way to securize transmission with the insurance that data writes are done on disks in both locations. Asynchronous mode is another way of Remote Data Replication, where data frames are sent to both locations. The data flow is sent without waiting for acknowledgment. This mode is well adapted to very long distances or transmission through WANs, where the transmission latency slows down the applications. An option over these two basic techniques adds data consistency to remote duplication. A set of consistent data is defined, as an example a data base set associated with its log. This atomic consistent data group is sent to the distant location as a whole, and acknowledged as such. Such an option is securing the business by insuring a perfect data consistency of the distant location. In case of long distance transmission over large networks, data frames could be sent via different paths resulting in different transfer time. The consistency option is a solution for data order insurance. |
Disaster tolerance |
The request of Recovery Point Objective associated with Recovery Time Objective is always very specific to an application or a set of data. The FDA and Optima Storage Software: Remote Data Replication associated with Local Data replication and Dynamic Snap Volume are allowing all various requirements for disaster tolerances to be effective, answering any specific requests. Restore procedure have to be ran regularly insuring the disaster tolerance to be well mastered. Bull services are proposing customized procedures easing administrator training and recovery exercises, as well as 24/24 7/7 monitoring. |
Full management with FDA and Optima Storage Manager |
The FDA and Optima Storage Manager Server and software is the Single point of management of the FDA and Optima storage family. While it allows configuring the storage system, shows operating condition and displays performances. It manages the whole FDA and Optima replication products displays, configures and controls the status of data replication operation. Specific Controls and application synchronizations are implemented in the selected application server. Pc or servers clients access the FDA and Optima Storage Manager via Ethernet link.
