      A highly performant architecture
    Optima4600 is designed to build highly performant and capacitive storage solutions. Its architecture leans on multi-core processors of the latest generation and offers four times the internal throughput of the already powerful Optima3600.
    Optima4600 offers up to 48 host connectivities in Fibre Channel and iSCSI. SSD, SAS and NL-SAS disk drives can be connected through 32x SAS 6Gb/s links, bringing a great flexibility to build performant and highly capacitive solutions. Optima4600 supports upto 960 drives and a user capacity of 2,8 PBytes.

      Improved efficiency of Optima4600
    Autonomic data allocation improves the efficiency of the storage by the analysis of the frequency of access to data and, according to the defined policy, the launch of an immediate or programmed data migration of blocks of data, from SAS or NL-SAS drives to SSD drives or vice-versa. This feature allows to limit the number of disk drives to the useful capacity and to reach the required performance by taking benefit of the SSD drives for the frequently used data.
    SSD cache significantly improves performance of transactional applications by moving hot data into the SSD cache.

      High availability and reliability
    Full redundant architecture with dual RAID controllers, mirrored cache, quadruple power supplies and fans, makes Optima4600 guarantee a 99,999% availability. Cache continuity is achieved by flash backup and controllers, disk drives, power supplies can be hot swapped undisruptively.
    Optima4600 tolerates a single disk failure in RAID-1/10, RAID-5/50 and a double disk failure in RAID-6 or RAID Triple Mirror. Super-Phoenix self healing technology reduces the number of disk drive replacement by repairing and recovering from suspected drive failures.

      Optima4600 software offer
    Optima4600 natively embeds Thin Provisioning ans Power Saver. Thin Provisioning optimizes the disk capacity and adapts this capacity to the increasing needs of the applications by managing thresholds at the LUN or pool level. Power Saver saves power consumption by stopping unactive disks, eg back-up drives outside of the back-up windows.
    Data protection is achieved by local replication or snapshot software and by remote replication between Optimas, whatever the model of Optima. Virtual Cache Partitioning achieves quality of service by allocating cache segments to an application and garanteeing its performance whatever the load of the other applications.
    Performance Monitor displays real time performance of Optima4600 and Performance Navigator analyzes performance evolution and predicts future saturations. Performance Optimizer detects bottlenecks and manages data migration to unloaded pools to balance the disks load and optimize the behaviour of the Optima4600.

      Virtualized environments
    Optima4600 is well fitted to VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V virtualized environments. In addition to the basic VMware and Site Recovery Manager certifications, a vSphere WEB client, a vCenter plug-in, vStorage APIs for Array Integration(vAAI) and vStorage APIs for Storage Awareness (VASA) are available. Also a plug-in Path Selection Architecture (PSA) is integrated in StoreWay Multipath for VMware.

      Ease of installation and Administration
    Optima Storage Manager manages all Optimas of a site from a central point. It manages the configuration of the disk array and all the optional software. Each Optima can also be configured by a manager embedded in the disk array. Migration from an existing storage to Optima4600 is easily achieved off-line by a Data Migration feature. It allows a quick start of the exploitation of the new storage with the existing data. Optima4600 connectivity ensures interoperability with Windows, Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, AIX and VMware. Server data access is secured by Storeway Multipath software available for Windows, Linux, VMware and AIX.
