Bull announces the NGate7 Media Gateway Controller to meet growing demand for the Telco VoIP market

Leveraging standards-based SS7 building blocks from Intel

Intel Developer Forum, Barcelona April  19, 2004 -

Bull announces today the NGate7, a Media Gateway Controller, based on Intel® NetStructure™ SS7 boards and protocols.

Bull is expanding its current relationship with Intel beyond NovaScale® servers to develop solutions for the fast-growing telco VoIP market. NGate7 enables carriers and service providers to efficiently manage their international calls and to develop innovative services for their subscribers. Targeted services in this market segment include 3 stage dial in, PC to phone, find me/follow me, video-telephony, presence management and hosted PBX. These services are part of the growing trend in which carriers offer enhanced services to their subscriber base while leveraging their existing networking infrastructure.

By supporting legacy PSTN signalling, media gateways and SIP application servers, NGate7 provides carriers with a modular approach when building and deploying new revenue-generating services.

As part of their expanded relationship, Bull has joined the Intel® Communications Alliance, a community of communications developers and solutions providers committed to the development of modular, standards-based building blocks, platforms, and solutions based on Intel technologies, processors, products, and services.

"We think that NGate7 will bring a very efficient building block to the fast expanding VoIP market," said André Félix, General Manager, Bull Services. "In addition, as a member of the Intel® Communications Alliance, we are able to leverage an ecosystem dedicated to providing standards-based components and solutions to the telecom market."

"The Intel® SS7 product line, including the 64 links supported by the Intel® NetStructureTM SS7HDP board, enabled Bull to create an advanced media gateway controller that fosters VoIP deployments by telecommunications service providers," said Tony Neal-Graves, General Manager of Intel's Network Building Blocks Division.

NGate7 is a vendor independent Media Gateway Controller able to integrate selected solutions from the market place to build offers customized to service provider expectations. It supports media gateways from major vendors such as Cisco, UTStarcom, AudioCodes and Tetco and its open architecture enables a seamless integration with various Application Servers. Its very scalable carrier class architecture breaks new grounds in term of price-performance ratio for small ISPs as well as for large scale carriers.
