Bull and Keeneo launch a European partnership in intelligent video surveillance
Paris,
June
20, 2006 -
Bull and Keeneo are today announcing the signature of a technical and commercial partnership under the terms of which the two companies will market an innovative range of Intelligent Video Surveillance (IVS) solutions for their European customers. The agreement is focused particularly on the public transport market, critical industrial sites, local and regional authorities, and public spaces such as car parks, sports stadiums, etc.
For Frédéric Lacombe, Bull's Director for Emerging Markets: "Emerging markets are one of the Group's major development priorities, as set out in our Horizon 2008 strategic plan. Intelligent video surveillance is key to the development of our business in this area. The partnership announced with Keeneo today reflects this ambition."
Video surveillance has expanded widely over the past few years to meet ever more stringent security demands. Current infrastructures depend mainly on vigilance on the part of operators, so there is always the risk of not detecting an important event in time to take action. By using the most sophisticated, high-performance 4D technology currently available on the market, the joint solution offered by Bull and Keeneo significantly increases the likelihood of real-time detection, cuts the number of false alarms and enables wide-scale deployment.
The powerful combination of Keeneo's range of software solutions - based on its IVS software, a virtual intelligent brain for analyzing video footage -with Bull's server offerings, ensures reliability and high performance. Bull is also providing its expertise as systems integrator, to ensure total integration within existing video surveillance infrastructures, with, as added advantage, the possibility of deploying many more cameras with the same number of operators.
Thomas Herlin, Keeneo's Chief Executive Officer emphasizes: "The partnership with Bull is totally in line with our strategy to be a successful independent software vendor and enables us to distribute Keeneo's technology to a growing number of customers and countries. The combination of Keeneo's software packages and Bull hardware provides a high-performance, global solution that is simple and competitively priced for our customers."
About Keeneo
Keeneo specializes in designing and developing IVS software packages. Keeneo's systems automatically analyse video footage and recognize behavior posing a risk (acts of violence, for example). Keeneo provides the virtual brain that helps the human operator take rapid and appropriate decisions. Through its technolgical advances - most notably, the introduction of 4D technology - Keeneo extends the functionality and enhances the reliability of existing video surveillance systems. Keeneo was a spin-out company from the Orion laboratory at INRIA (the French national institute for research into IT and automation) and capitalizes on more than a decade of research into intelligent video surveillance at the lab.
