As part of its global Open Source strategy, French health insurance provider CNAMTS (the Caisse Nationale de l'Assurance Maladie des Travailleurs Salariés) has awarded Bull the contract to support its Linux RedHat distributions across all its technical infrastructure servers and front-office applications (up to 5,000 servers in all), as well as to provide additional support services in other Open Source environments.
The three-year contract responds to CNAMTS's requirements for professional-quality support tools and expertise in Open Source software. It includes corrective maintenance and updating services, on-line support and assistance on site, as well as audit, monitoring and technical assistance.
Jean Pierre Barbéris, General Manager of Bull Services and Solutions explains: "This new contract affirms Bull's ability to respond to the demands of major organizations. The professional resources at our services centers, combined with our dedicated R&D initiatives in Open Source development ensures that Bull is an undisputed major player in this market."
Bull will be providing a range of services to CNAMTS covering:
-
Subscriptions to Linux distributions
-
Corrective maintenance and enhancement
-
On-line support and bug fixes
-
On-site support
-
Audit and monitoring services
-
A corresponding range of technical services.
These services will provide CNAMTS with guaranteed continuity of service in terms of the availability of the Open Source solutions they use.
"We chose Bull because of its commitment to Open Source, its professional support center - which gives us access to a single contact point and personalized support - and the possibility of accessing the full spectrum of the Group's expertise in Open Source software, " explained Maryvonne Cronier, CNAMTS' IT Director.
For Bull, this is another new contract for its Open Access service - the support element of its Open Energy offering. Launched in November 2005, Open Energy is a comprehensive service offering based on a professional industrial approach and responding to the full range of requirements in the deployment lifecycle for Open Source solutions: from porting to development, and including integration, support and change management services.
Bull and Open Source
Thanks to its R&D investment in Open Source software, Bull has built up a wealth of experience that makes the Group one of the natural leaders of the Open Source movement. Bull is involved in open systems in three different and complementary ways: as a hardware manufacturer, the company develops Open Source components for its own IT platforms, as a software vendor it provides added value by building on existing Open Source components, and as a systems integrator it offers Open EnergyTM , a comprehensive suite of services including development, qualification, distribution and support for Open Source software batteries.
Open Access, a key component of Open EnergyTM , is an Open Source software maintenance and support service designed to help organizations select, validate, maintain and ensure the continued evolution of their software batteries. Open Access capitalizes on Bull's professional, industrial support infrastructure, Bull Téléservices (BTS), to offer 24/7 assistance, as well as on the Group's extensive R&D resources to provide level 3 and 4 support.
