ITIL, encouraging best practice
ITIL has become the de facto industry standard for outsourcing. As a
supplier of IT support and operational services, Bull Services adopted
the ITIL (IT infrastructure library) approach from a very early stage,
and was a founder member of the itSMF (IT Service Management Forum) in
France.
Bull Services and Solutions first adopted ITIL in 2000, with the formalization
of its best practices in distributed computing. This was followed by
an audit of our own production datacenters in 2003, enabling us to create
an action plan for embedding ITIL more widely throughout our organization
and processes, particularly including a large-scale training and certification
initiative. In mid-2004, Bull launched a major program of updating and
improvements to its own datacenters, drawing on ITIL disciplines.
Today, ITIL is a core component of our outsourcing projects, complementing
the other fundamental elements underpinning Bull Services’ approach
including ISO9001 v2000 certification, the total cost optimization (TCO)
model, MOSIC project management methodology, PMI certification, and the
MOF and Cobit toolsets.
