JUFAS (JTDS UFAS option)
JUFAS gives the capability to access UFAS files from a Java environment on open system
(station or server).
This product is available for any system running
GCOS 7 TA or XTA.
The remote access from Open systems to UFAS files
is based on the JAVA class UFAS: the class and the EJB implementing this class
are both included in the product. This UFAS class or EJB is always executed on a
remote computer.

In order to manage the UFAS files and access
them, a specific TPR is delivered with the product. This TPR (H_JUFAS) can be
integrated to an existing TDS (DSA or TCP/IP). The UFAS file has to be assigned
statically in the TDS STEP and opened by the TDS.
All types of file sharing are supported,
including the MONITOR sharing.
JUFAS includes two public JAVA classes: UFAS and
UFASRecord. The first one permits access to UFAS files, while the second one
gives control over the fields included into the records.
All UFAS commands are implemented: open/close,
point (position within file), get/put (read/write), update, delete…
The conversions between GCOS 7 data types and
JAVA data types are automatically performed.
User benefits
- Easy access to UFAS data from any
platform/application using a Java Virtual Machine:
- Universal (Java can run on Win95/98/2000,
NT, AIX, Unix, LINUX... station or server) and modern : these new
techniques and competencies are highly re-usable, and bring full
durability for new applications on the server/station side,
- Easy to integrate into middleware server :
large choice for customers and low cost integration,
- Quick application development using the new
tools provided on Application Servers,
- Fast deployment of solution,
- Cost effective solution through simplified
management (as opposed to distributed Client/Server architecture) and
dynamic sharing of data (no need for extraction and transfer of the full
set of files).
- Re-use of existing data for new development
related to e-business or other needs: new durability for legacy applications
managing these data.
- Integration of GCOS 7 system in the global
Internet enterprise solution.
