The Overland L490E for OpenSave offer is a 3490 18/36-track Cartridge Tape Library which provides GCOS 7 customers with a high-performance, reduced cost storage/archiving solution sharable with open systems.

It addresses organizations that need a storage/archiving capacity up to 24 GB.

Product overview

The Overland L490E cartridge tape library completes the existing 3490 libraries offer for the OpenSave solution:

• Overland L490E: 10 cartridges, 1 drive (Overland), 18/36-track cartridges read and write

• CTL 9710 (TimberWolf): from 252 up to 588 cartridges, up to 6 drives (STK 4890).

The OpenSave solution provides:

• sharing of DLT or 3490 36-track cartridge tape libraries between GCOS 7, UNIX and NT platforms,
• management of distributed automated backup/restore operations thanks to the OpenSave client/server software,
• from 10 up to 588 cartridges storage capacity:
  • - DLT offer: from 200 GB up to 11 TB (up to 41 TB in compressed mode),
  • - 3490 offer: from 4 GB up to 240 GB (up to 1.4 TB in compressed mode E-tape).
