Product: AIX
Date: 24 dec 1999
Time: 14:27:10
To be Year 2000-ready, Escala E requires a firmware version at the minimum level 03.03.b2 and Escala T or EPC/S400 requires a firmware version at the minimum level 03.03.02.
The system may hang during Year 2000 rollover when a non-Y2K ready firmware version is still running on an Escala E, T or EPC/S400 which is being used in maintenance mode (ie. the front panel key has been turned to service mode).
If, once in Year 2000, the firmware commands handling dates are no properly executed, operations under AIX should take place normally even if the date is not corrected at firmware level (Date at firmware level does not interfere with the one at AIX level). However, Bull strongly recommends you not to switch your platform Escala E, T or EPC/S400 to maintenance mode (ie. do not turn the front panel key to service mode).
If the symptoms above occur, please apply the procedure below with care:
1. Reboot the platform in maintenance mode, then reset the date from 1900 to 1999.
2. Reboot the platform in normal mode, then reset the date under AIX.
In case of difficulty, please contact your local Bull Customer Services representative.
