Maintenance policy and the Year 2000

To be Year 2000-ready, your GCOS 7 platform must be upgraded at software level as detailed below :

TS9662

The GCOS 7 release TS9662 is supported and Year 2000-ready when upgraded at level software TS9662 UP30. In addition, the installation of the kit of SERs called AFT662_UP30 (issued on August 30, 1999) is required. This kit does not include the Year 2000 SER P6729.02 needed for IQS extension functionality which is available on GCOS 7  releases TS7560, TS8560 and TS9662 only (see detailed list below).
To get the kit AFT662_UP30, please contact your local Bull support representative.

TS7560/8560

The GCOS 7 releases TS7560 and TS8560 are supported and Year 2000-ready when respectively upgraded at software level TS7560 UP30 and TS8560 UP30. In addition, the installation of the kit of SERs called AFT560_UP30 (issued on June 11, 1999 and also available on the tape AFT915) is required. This kit does not include the Year 2000 SER P6729.02 needed for IQS extension functionality which is available on GCOS 7 releases TS7560, TS8560 and TS9662 only  (see detailed list below).
To get the kit of SERs, please contact your local Bull support representative.

TS7458/8458

The GCOS 7 releases TS7458 and TS 8458 are no longer supported  but Year 2000-ready when respectively ugraded at software level TS7458 UP21 and TS8458 UP25. In addition, the installation of the kit of SERs called AFT7458 (issued on May 14, 1997) is required. This kit does not include the Year 2000 SERs P0057.01 and P1069.01 (see detailed list below).
To get the kit of SERs, please contact your local Bull support representative.

Note : Bull strongly recommends to migrate your GCOS 7 platform at software level either TS7560 UP30, TS8560 UP30 or TS9662 UP30.

(1) Indicates that this SER is not included in the kit AFT7458.

(4) The use of the Private Timer option (millennium application test facility) requires the application of the following SERs : P3683.01/P3812.01, P5202.02 and P3414.01.

(5) The IQS extension functionality (available on GCOS 7 releases TS7560, TS8560 and TS9662 only) requires the installation of the kit of SERs called AFT560_UP30 and SER P6729.02 which is not included in this kit.


Testing status

Current tests aim to identify residual problems in component products and indicate the version which provides full Year 2000 readiness. Their results will be posted as updates to the compliance catalog.
