Symmetrix DMX800 networked storage system

Overview

The Industry’s First Modular High-End Storage Array The Symmetrix DMX800 networked storage system dramatically lowers cost of entry to high-end storage systems. The industry’s first modular, high-end storage array, the DMX800 delivers the power of the Symmetrix DMX Series to more applications, users, and locations.

The DMX800 shares many components with the mid-tier CLARiiON CX family, but it’s a true Symmetrix DMX, leveraging the groundbreaking Direct Matrix technology. Because of its modular packaging, the CX800 can be deployed outside of a data center.  And

upgrading from the CLARiiON CX series to the DMX800, with its maximum usable capacity of 15.3 TB, is as simple as swapping controllers.   With up to 120 drives and 16 front-end channels, the DMX800 is an attractive fit, offering more performance in a smaller footprint, for customers who use today’s single-bay Symmetrix 8530 models in open systems environments.

DMX800 Features include:

  • New modular packaging
  • Up to 120 drives
  • 16 2Gb Fibre Channel front-end ports
  • Up to 32 GB cache
  • 16 2 Gb Fibre Channel back-end channels
  • No raised floor or dedicated cooling required

Unmatched availability The DMX800 includes more redundancy to cache and power supplies—and new features like end-to-end data integrity validation and Triple Module Redundancy with Majority Voting. And as always, EMC Symmetrix networked storage sets the availability standard with continuous monitoring, integrity checking, fault isolation, and "phone-home" remote diagnostics.

Richest functionality The DMX800 employs Enginuity, the most intelligent and thoroughly field-proven storage operating environment on the market. And it runs EMC’ s complete suite of storage management software—the richest in the industry—for absolute functional compatibility with previous generations
