State of Maine selects NovaScale for key citizen services

mainegov_logo.jpg

The State of Maine Office of Information Technology has purchased a Bull NovaScale 9165/321 system, GCOS 8 SR6, an FDA2500 Disk Array, Virtuo Subsystem, and a NEO4000 library to provide services for their Bureau of Motor Vehicles and their Department of Health and Human Services.

For the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV), the new system will be used for on-line plus supporting batch applications. The on-line applications currently consist of subsystems relating to Vehicle Services, including title, registration, long term trailers, fuel tax, over limit permits, operating authority, etc. Through the collection of the licensing and registration fees associated with these services, the BMV also provides revenue to build and maintain Maine’s highways.

The Department of Health and Human Services will use the system for both online and batch processing applications to simplify access to integrated health and human services programs for children, teenagers, families, adults, and senior citizens.

Maine has enjoyed rapid growth and success in its use of technology over the years. Its systems must be flexible, efficient, and accessible to persons with disabilities and provide security of information where appropriate and necessary.

The new systems will help the State of Maine’s Office of Information Technology continue their mission of “listening to what their citizens want, and using technology in creative ways to exceed their expectations.”
